5^th Annual Humboldt Math Festival :  April 28, 2012

Teachers, clubs, individuals, and non-profit organizations are invited to present at the math festival.

A great opportunity to showcase your students, classroom or school. Share a successful lesson, or a favorite topic.

Displays, make-and-take activities, how-to demonstration

The target audience is all members of the community, including preschoolers through college students.  The Festival is organized by local teachers and is funded with business sponsorships, grants and in-kind donations.

Logistical Information:

• The Festival is held at the Bayshore Mall, 3300 Broadway, Eureka, CA.  The Festival is set up in “Center Court” with tables going down the mall wings.
• All Presenters set up on April 28^th before 10:00 am, and stay until 2:00 (clean up by 4:00pm).
• The first two Festivals had 30 presenters and an estimated 1000 visitors each year.  In 2009 we hosted 35 presenters and estimate 1500 to 2000 visitors.

Recommendations:

• Hands-on activities are the most successful presentations. 
• Make-and-take activities or handouts are greatly appreciated. 
• A small activity or puzzle is suggested, even for informational presentations.

We need to know:

• The name of your organization or school. 
• The names of people involved in your presentation.
• A working “title” for your presentation, along with a brief description.
• A limited number of electrical connections are available.  If you need electricity, please let Ken Pinkerton know as soon a possible.  Bring your own extension cords and power strips.

We provide:

• Display Table (6’ to 8’ long) with tablecloth.  (Thanks to the Bayshore Mall!)
• Wireless connectivity.  (Thanks to Suddenlink Communications!)
• A small table-top sign for your table and a listing in the “Festival Passport”
• Stickers for “stamping” the participants’ “Festival Passports.”
• We may be able to help you with up to $20 for materials per table - you must turn in receipts
• Support and suggestions for your presentation. 

Restrictions:

• Presenters must be sponsored by a non-profit organization or school.
• You may not sell items, advertise items for sale, or sell raffle tickets.
